We all have the power to switch the channel on stress and move our mindset in the direction of peace and positivity. There are three things you can do to get yourself in a stress-free, peaceful mindset: mediate, do a media fast and practice gratitude.journal.phone.remote

Meditate

Meditation is “calm on demand”. It can easily obtained by simply giving yourself a time out to just close your eyes and sit and breathe, while letting the stressed-out world go by.

Do a Media Fast

What does that mean in our technology-driven world? Every day, at 8pm, turn off your cell phone, computer and TV remote. I know it’s scary, but trust me, it will be worth it.

Have you ever noticed that watching the news can make you feel small, powerless and stressed? The environment around you—including watching the news—has the ability to set off the stress hormone, cortisol. The good news is that you can control the stress you feel by pushing the “off” button.

Practice Gratitudegratitude journal

Research shows that taking a few moments each day to write down what you are grateful for in a journal can be a powerful intervention strategy to lower stress and increase feelings of peace and well-being.

Meditation, fasting from the media and practicing gratitude are three things you can do to put yourself in a stress-free mindset. By taking the time to unplug, chill out and step off the stress express, you’ll begin to feel more positive, calm and collected.
