0912-redhead-seatedAs Women’s Health magazine says, “if you don’t stand up straight, no amount of exercise will give you the hot bod you’re after.

Here’s why: Over time, poor posture takes a serious toll on your spine, shoulders, hips, and knees. In fact, it can cause a cascade of structural flaws that lead to back and joint pain, reduced flexibility, and compromised muscles, all of which limit your ability to burn fat and build strength.”

So there you have it – practicing proper posture will not only have you looking and feeling better immediately, but also in the long term. Don’t know where to start? Women’s Health offers some quick and easy exercises to help fix some of the most common side effects of poor posture, from stiff neck muscles to pigeon toes. Click here to read them all in an editorial called “Better Posture: 6 Ways to Straighten Up.”

Of course, if we make the effort to maintain proper posture from the beginning, we can ward off many of these issues in advance. This can be difficult when we spend most of our time sitting – at a desk, at home, in the car, etc. Hours of concentration, stress or even just boredom can make it difficult to focus on our posture. Luckily, there are now products that do the work for you!

113776Take, for example, our signature BackJoy® Posture+: The orthotic seat’s patented design cups glute muscles and tilts the hips upright, thus relieving pressure and strain on the tailbone and sit bones – with minimal effort or thought. Meanwhile, its advanced core material supports the body in any type of seat (hard or soft) and the lightweight, portable size makes it easy to take on-the-go.
