What was your New Year’s resolution? You aren’t alone if you say getting fit/healthy. Yet by one week into January, 25% of people have already abandoned their New Year’s goals. The 21-day Get Down to the Core Challenge kicks off February 1st for a second chance at meeting your goal to get healthy in 2016.
The FREE (yes, you read that right) 3-week program was created by Dr. Mark Barnes, nationally recognized doctor of physical therapy and creator of the award-winning Telespine program, and Coach Carrie Barry, nationally and internationally known in Olympic Style Boxing and a 10-time National Champion. The challenge is specifically designed to work your deepest core muscle called the trasnverses abdomens (TrA) in order to prevent injuries, protect your internal organs and central nervous system, facilitate movement, and take pressure off the spine and alleviate back pain.
Why a Strong Core?
Your core muscles work together to stabilize and protect your spine. Whether you are picking something up off the floor, swinging a golf club or getting out of bed, a strong core protects your back. When you have a strong core, the muscles in your pelvis, lower back, hips and abdomen work together in harmony. However, when you have a weak core, simple or large tasks can put too much pressure on your spine, leading to injury and pain.
This challenge is perfect for those looking for big benefits in a short period of time. Each week’s workouts can be completed in as little as 15-20 minutes, three times a week. Best of all, the exercises can be done at home, the gym or even the office.
